About

Paddle the Afon Mawddach from Penmaenpool, a stunning riverside location with a superb pub and easy access to the river. The Afon flows quickly through Dolgellau but by the time it reaches Penmaenpool it is gently meandering and tidal. From the gravel beach bank put in and follow this wide sweeping valley to Barmouth Bridge – all the way under the watchful eye of Mount Cadair Idris. If you work the tides there is scope to return on the incoming tide, or make a plan to return by road.
