Paddle the River Thames from Ham, a short walk from Richmond. Launching from the small beach at the end of River Lane you can head downstream past the busy waterfront towards Richmond bridge and the iconic Richmond waterfront with cafes, bars and restaurants aplenty. Alternatively, head upstream towards Teddington Lock. This stretch of the river is broad and open and generally accessible to beginners, but can be exposed to wind, strong flow and some boat traffic.
