The Isle of Wight coastal path is a scenic and varied 70-mile route around the island. From Blackgang viewpoint perched above Blackgang Chine Leisure park, you can head West (via a short section on road) down to the long, exposed and rugged southwestern coastal path that runs uninterrupted to Freshwater Bay and the Needles. Heading East takes you along high cliffs around St Catherine’s Point to St Lawrence and further to Ventnor. Either way you go, it is possible to return to your start point by bus. You can also explore inland for some great circular walks up on the Downs, including up to the impressive St Catherine’s Oratory. If you’re feeling really adventurous you can scramble down some tricky paths to Blackgang beach.
